about

On the first sunny day of spring in 2017, my dad woke up early, got on his motorbike and headed for the coast. He didn’t come home. Nothing can prepare you for the loss of a parent. The hollowness, the emptiness, the unfinished conversations, the unexpected guilt. In my situation, it was very sudden - the news of the accident didn’t seem real. I still have a hard time believing he is really gone. I keep expecting him to turn up. Time is the only thing that can separate you from the emotion but when you stop and think about it, it’s still as raw as ever. This is definitely the hardest song we’ve ever had to write.

lyrics

First day in a t-shirt
Always gotta shiver
I could wear your leathers
But I don’t wanna go

Thought the dust would settle
But I’m in and out of debt still
Easy on the throttle
Didn’t get to the coast

Maybe it’s better this way
At least I got someone to blame
I keep on thinking if only you went another way

Papers say you’re gone, I don’t believe it
thought I saw you standing in the distance
I don’t quite remember our last conversation
wish I wrote the words down
If they hadn’t made that split decision
Would you still be dancing in the kitchen
Would you still be dreaming how to make a million
Oh by next year oh by next year

Living for the close calls
You weren’t afraid to dig holes
Thought you were in it for the long haul
Who’d’ve known down the road

Used to love the corners
Now they remind me of you
Too much like each other
How did we never know?

Maybe it’s better this way
At least I got someone to blame
I keep on thinking if only you went another way

Papers say you’re gone, I don’t believe it
thought I saw you standing in the distance
I don’t quite remember our last conversation
wish I wrote the words down
If they hadn’t made that split decision
Would you still be dancing in the kitchen
Would you still be dreaming how to make a million
Oh by next year oh by next year

You were ‘bout as subtle as a hurricane
Blew the doors clean off when you went away
Not sure if you regret what you didn’t say
Cos i do, i do

You were off the rails with a mind of your own
When told to back down you would go it alone
Wonder if you still yearn for a way back home
Cos I do, I do

Papers say you’re gone, I don’t believe it
thought I saw you standing in the distance
I don’t quite remember our last conversation
wish I wrote the words down
If they hadn’t made that split decision
Would you still be dancing in the kitchen
Would you still be dreaming how to make a million
Oh by next year oh by next year
Oh by next year oh by next year
Oh by next year oh by next year
This time next year oh year we’ll be millionaires
Oh by next year oh by next year
This time next year oh year we’ll be millionaires
Oh by next year oh by next year

Their sonic palette toes the line between electronic and organic landscapes, blending the two parallels with an overarching focus on the craft and delivery of a song.
